Worship: Join us each Sunday for worship and experience God’s love in a welcoming and joyful community. We are one congregation worshipping across two locations, Proserpine and Cannonvale.
Communion: We hold communion on the first Sunday of each month.
All Welcome: Families and children of all ages are welcome at all services. Worship is one of the most important things that our church family does. Families are an important part of the community so we encourage all to be part of our worship together.
There is a lot of singing at Proserpine Whitsunday Uniting Church. We sing throughout the service, praise and worship with music during communion. Vistors tell us that they’re struck by how easy it is for people to participate, and how wonderful it is to be part of making such beautiful music. We are always keen for musicision to join our team.

FELLOWSHIP & BIBLE STUDY
Fellowship is each Wednesday, 9:30am in the St James Church building, Proserpine.
Bible Study is each Thursday evening at 7:00pm, led online by Rev Greg Rankin, Emerald Uniting Church. Contact us for the link.
Nursing Home Singing – each Saturday from 9:00am to 10:00am. Contact Bernardine Stevens on xxx if you would like to participate.
BAPTISMS
Baptism is a sacred and joyful step in the life of faith. In the Uniting Church in Australia, baptism is recognised as one of the two sacraments commanded by Christ — an outward sign of God’s grace, a welcome into the life of the church, and the beginning of a lifelong journey of discipleship.
At Proserpine Whitsunday Uniting Church, we celebrate baptisms with reverence, care and support for you and your family. Baptism is not just a ceremony — it is an expression of God’s love, a commitment to walk with Christ, and a moment where the church community gathers to support you.
The Church family commits to maintaining the life of worship and teaching, witness and service so that infants, children, youth and adults who are brought for Baptism are embraced within the life of the Church so that they may grow to profess their own faith in Jesus Christ and accept God’s offer of a personal relatinship and live the Christian life. This is known as Confirmation.

WEDDINGS
Your wedding is a joyous celebration of your marriage; your union in the eyes of God. The Whitsundays is a beautiful place to celebrate a wedding and we are blessed with many scenic venues. Proserpine Whitsunday Uniting Church can arrange and facilitate both religious and civil ceremonies at the venue of your choice. We are affiliated with the Uniting Church in Australia.
The cost of a wedding package is $900.
Reaffirmations of existing marriage vows are by donation.
Our Church facilities are usually unavailable on Sunday mornings.

FUNERALS
At Proserpine Whitsunday Uniting Church we walk alongside individuals, families, and loved ones in times of loss with compassion, dignity, and the hope of the resurrection in Christ. We understand that every life is unique and each farewell is deeply personal. Our Church is here to support you through every step of planning and conducting a funeral or memorial service in a way that honours your loved one and reflects your faith and values.

Pastoral Care
At Proserpine Whitsunday Uniting Church, pastoral care is a central part of our life together. We seek to offer compassionate support to people of all ages and stages of life — whether you are connected with our congregation, part of the wider community, facing a life challenge, or simply would like someone to talk with. We reflect the love of Christ through care that is listening, respectful, and hopeful.
What Pastoral Care Is
Pastoral care is the ministry of companioning people, providing spiritual, emotional, and practical support when life is joyful, difficult, or uncertain. Our pastoral care is grounded in Christian compassion and guided by the values of the Uniting Church in Australia Queensland Synod.
Pastoral care may include:
- Listening and encouragement
- Prayer support
- Visiting homes, hospitals, and care facilities
- Support through grief, loss, illness, or isolation
- Connecting you with practical support and community resources
- Sharing hope and faith in ways that respect your story and journey
How Pastoral Care Is Provided
Our pastoral care team serves in various ways, including:
- Care Wheels and Small Groups
- These groups are simple but powerful ways church members share life together. They offer opportunities for friendship, faith conversations, shared meals, prayer, and mutual care — often over a cuppa or a barbecue.
- In‑Home and Hospital Visiting
- If you are unwell, isolated, or unable to attend church in person, our Pastoral Care Team provides friendly visits. This may be a short checkin, a conversation, prayer, or just a listening presence.
- Community Chaplaincy (Blue Care)
- In the past, our ministers have served as a community chaplain under the Blue Care framework — offering support to people beyond Sunday worship, including those struggling with loneliness or seeking meaning and purpose. Whilst we are currently without a minister, this service is on hold.
- Prayer Support
- If you are experiencing stress, loss, or life change, you are not alone. Our pastoral team would be honoured to pray with and for you. Prayer requests can be made confidentially by phone or email to minister@proserpineuniting.org.au.
- Prayers in the Garden
- We gather every Thursday at 5:30 pm in the church garden (corner of Herbert & Main Streets, Proserpine) for shared prayer and fellowship. All are welcome — stay for a few minutes or the whole time. (currently on hold)
Who Can Receive Pastoral Care
Pastoral care at Proserpine Whitsunday Uniting Church is offered to:
- Members of our congregation
- People in our local community
- Families during times of need
- Anyone seeking spiritual or emotional support
You do not need to be a regular church attendee to receive pastoral care; you just need to reach out.
Safe Ministry & Care Standards
Your safety, dignity, and wellbeing are paramount. All pastoral care activities are conducted under the Safe Ministry and Child Safety policies of the Uniting Church in Australia Queensland Synod. This means:
- Our volunteers and leaders have appropriate checks and training
- Care is offered with respect and confidentiality
- If a situation requires professional support or referral, we can help connect you with appropriate services

RELIGIOUS INSTRUCTION (RI)
Supporting schools, families and students, Religious Instruction (RI) is offered in partnership with local schools to support students in exploring the Christian faith in a respectful and age-appropriate way.
At Proserpine Whitsunday Uniting Church, trained volunteer instructors present engaging lessons that help students explore the Christian story and the message of love, hope and grace revealed in Jesus Christ.
Religious Instruction is delivered in accordance with the policies of the Queensland Department of Education and in partnership with the Christian Religious Instruction Network Queensland.

Court Support
We are here to walk with you when you need it most.
The Court Support Program is part of our Community Heart Project. We provide practical, emotional, and spiritual support for people attending court — whether you are a defendant, family member, friend, or supporter.
Our volunteers are trained, compassionate, and familiar with court procedures and the environment, helping make the experience less stressful and more manageable.
Who We Support
We assist people who:
- Are attending court and need guidance or reassurance
- Are accompanying family members or friends
- Need someone to explain procedures or help navigate the courthouse
- Would like prayer, encouragement, or pastoral support
Our support is non-legal — we do not give legal advice. For legal guidance, please contact your solicitor, duty lawyer, or the court directly.
How We Can Help
- Accompanying you to court and providing emotional support
- Guiding you through court processes and what to expect
- Connecting you with additional services if required
- Listening, encouragement, and prayer when requested
What to Expect
When you arrive at the court with a Court Support volunteer:
- Volunteers will meet you at the courthouse and will be able to sit with you outside the courtroom, and walk into the courtroom with you. They will then sit in the gallery with you and when you are required to proceed to the front of the court, they will remain in the gallery as is required.
- They will explain the process, answer questions, and provide reassurance.
- During proceedings, volunteers remain nearby to offer support after your session.
- After court, they can debrief with you, provide pastoral care, or refer you to additional support services.
Volunteers are trained and have undergone observations at the Proserpine and Mackay Magistrates Courts, ensuring familiarity with court operations and safety procedures.
