Make a Difference (whether it is financial or your time)

Proserpine Uniting Church is more than a place of worship—it’s a place of connection, care, and community.

To us, giving is an expression of faith, gratitude and community. What we give — time, skills, and financial resources — enables us to share God’s love through practical care, community connection, worship, and service. Your generosity helps us continue our ministry, support those in need, maintain our church, and create a welcoming space for everyone. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference.

We believe that all we have is a gift from God and we offer it in response to God’s generosity. Your giving strengthens the life of our congregation and helps us reach out with compassion and hope across our region. Every gift, large or small helps us worship , care for one another and service our wider community.

Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.  (2 Corinthians 9:7)

If you feel the call to do so, then please make a donation to support us by making a one-time donation or setup a recurring donation to contribute regularly.

Many people have told us that God has used Proserpine Whitsunday Uniting Church to invite them deeper into living life with God.  We continue to receive comments like these: –

  • Sunday worship offers me regular nourishment in a way that brings together my daily life and all of my tasks and commitments.
  • I often say to myself:  I am so grateful for the experience of family offered by Proserpine Whitsunday Uniting Church.
  • Proserpine Whitsunday Uniting Church has made a huge difference in my life and helped to keep my head above water when I felt like I might drown from it all.
  • Thank you ‘for getting to the heart of the matter’ of living a vibrant life with Jesus.

Where your donation goes

As stewards of God’s money and property, our Church Council give careful consideration to how all funds contributed are utilised within the life and mission of our Church. We have several donation options, you can donate to: –

  • A general offering to the Church itself (providing services, events, and pastoral care);
  • Community Heart Project (support local community initiatives and outreach);
  • Property Maintenance (maintainenance and care for our church and facilities); and/or
  • Building Growth Fund (further building development/modifications for community use).

General Offerings

This is for stipends of our minister when in placement and general church life running costs including insurance, licensing, repairs and maintenace generally, equipment.  Unfortunately these are necessary to run any organisation and we attempt to cover this as best we can through congregational tithe and donations with members contributing by way of adopt-a-bill.

Community Heart Project

This is our outreach and mission funding.  100% of funds raised through CHP are committed to the various projects run as part of this Sub-Committee and cover costs for Court Support, after hours support through vouchers for transport to other towns, fuel vouchers, short term emergency accommodation vouchers with local hotels and caravan parks, food vouchers, clothing and other support, donations made to families struggling to cope with children suffering illness, and many other areas identified as a gap within our community needing assistance.

Property Maintenance

We keep a sinking fund which holds funds to cover future painting, repairs and maintenance of the building and the grounds, e.g. replace fencing, repairs to plumbing.

Why we Give

Giving is a spiritual discipline — not a requirement — and comes from a heart of gratitude.

Our congregation gives to:

  • Sustain Sunday worship, music and liturgy
  • Support pastoral care ministries for families, seniors, and those in need
  • Enable community outreach like Court Support and Ladies Fellowship
  • Resource teaching and discipleship, including Bible Study and Religious Instruction in schools
  • Fund community events such as the Annual Flower Show, Christmas Carols in the Garden, and fellowship gatherings
  • Support local and global mission partners

Scripture Reflections on Giving:

  • 2 Corinthians 9:7
  • Malachi 3:10
  • Luke 6:38
  • Proverbs 3:9

These verses remind us that giving is a joyful, prayerful response to God’s blessing, not an obligation.
